This couple had already fallen in love with Mallorca during their many family holidays and wanted to celebrate their special day here by the sea. So for this July wedding, we arranged for the ceremony to be held on a jetty just steps from the water with the sound of waves lapping the terrace. A deep blue aisle carpet perfectly matched the sea and sky and our padded white cubes and decorated white wedding arch with blush floral arrangements created the perfect wedding ambiance. The theme colours were palest blush and cream.
The guests assembled on the jetty next to the sea and the ceremony began. The couple exchanged their vows and rings and a traditional hand-fasting ceremony included the couple's two children in this special ritual. Then, a bottle of fine Mallorca wine was nailed up in a strong wooden box to await their tenth wedding anniversary!
The weather in Mallorca during July is usually at its most stable, with beautiful hot days and warm evenings and stunning deep blue skies. However, during this wedding, to everyone's amazement, a few drops of rain began to fall. As we gathered up umbrellas for the guests, just as suddenly, it stopped. A few minutes later, the wedding certificate was signed and the couple walked down the aisle as husband and wife to the extraordinarily apt strains of 'Here Comes the Sun' which raised smiles all round.
With the skies now clear again, chilled cava and delicious canapes were served on an upper terrace while photographs were taken. Then buses whisked the guests up to a beautiful restaurant just five minutes away, with stunning sea views for the dinner and party. Set at the end of an imposing tree-lined drive, there is a wide terrace with views to a lighthouse on a tiny island beyond and distant mountains across a perfect bay.
The couple had opted for a buffet barbecue with starters of salmorejo, a classic Spanish chilled soup, bruschetta of squid, goat's cheese and pineapple, beef meatballs, cod and prawn croquettes, avocado salad with prawns and citrus viniagrette and salmon, potato and celery salad with a garlic viniagrette.
Then guests had a choice of hand-carved roast beef, Mallorcan leg of lamb with a crust of paprika-spiced sobrasada sausage and honey and teriyaki chicken on a bed of couscous and vegetables
Desserts included creme brulee, coconut sponge, strawberry brownie and fresh fruit salad. The wedding cake was an elegant blush and cream decorated with fresh flowers.
Afterwards, the party got underway in the warm evening with playlists compiled with songs by all the guests which made for a fun eclectic and fun selection!
